COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER
On November 28, 2014, New Bridges will host a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who wishes to attend. If you are alone on this holiday, if you have no way to prepare that special dinner, if you are homeless or just hungry, you are encouraged to come and share this time together with the community. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner from turkey to pumpkin pie will be served from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at the New Bridges Outreach Center, 27287 Patrick Avenue.
There are still a few slots open for those who would like to volunteer to assist with this event. Salad makers, pie slicer, greeters, buffet servers … all welcome. Call Betty 510-881-6344 to get your name on the list.
Additional Community Thanksgiving Dinner sites include the Salvation Army on A Street and Hayward First Presbyterian Church on Grove Way in Castro Valley.
WINTER WARMING SHELTER
For the second year New Bridges Outreach Center will open its door to those needing warmth and shelter from inclement winter weather. If the temperature is predicted to drop below 40 degrees or if a major storm is on the way, the shelter will be open to all from 6:00PM until 7:00AM. Sleeping mats and blankets are provided. Guests receive a hot and hardy soup supper when they arrive and a continental breakfast in the morning before they leave.
Volunteers are needed to set up the hall, prepare the evening meal, register our guests, and generally assist folk, from 6:00 PM until 11:00PM. From 11:00 PM until 7:00 professional security takes over. For the early raiser, breakfast servers and clean up assistance in needed at 7:00 AM. If you would like to be on the Volunteer Call List please contact Betty (510 881-6344) with the times/days you might be available, your contact information and your job preference.
